# Do buyer's agents work on LandXchange?

Buyers are welcome to bring their own agent. LandXchange is not a multiple-listing service (MLS), we do not split commissions, do not advertise buyer-agent compensation, and do not pay buy-side commissions out of seller proceeds.

## Can a buyer use a real estate agent on LandXchange?

Yes. Any buyer is free to engage their own agent. The buyer pays their own agent, separately from the LandXchange transaction. Sellers do not owe a buyer-side commission.

## Why does LandXchange not pay buyer-side commissions?

We are a marketplace technology platform, not a real estate brokerage. Marketplaces (Etsy, eBay, Airbnb) do not pay commissions to anyone's agent, they connect buyers and sellers directly. LandXchange operates on the same principle.

## How does the buyer-agent get paid then?

Buyer agents typically charge a flat hourly fee, a flat transaction fee, or a percentage paid by the buyer at closing. The buyer and their agent negotiate this directly and document it in their representation agreement. None of it flows through LandXchange.
